2008 News . . .
At the end of 2008: Mink was the #1 UKC Berger des Pyrenees and Levi was #2. Sherman ended up the year as the #5 UKC Beagle. Cassie ended up as the #4 Open Senior in Region 3.
November 2008: On the 15th & 16th we competed at the UKC show in Norman, OK. Ferris finished his UKC Grand Championship!!! He also won Best of Breed and a Group 1 twice. Kaelyn won Best of Breed once, got a Group 2 and gained another win toward her Grand Championship. Sherman won Best of Breed over a large entry of Beagles giving him another win toward his Grand Championship. He also won a Group 1. Travis also competed and he won his class and Best Male all three shows and Best of Winners twice. He almost finished his championship in one weekend of showing.
On the 1st & 2nd Levi competed in his second AKC Agility trial. He finished his NAJ title with his third score of 100 in a row!!! He also got 1 qualifying standard run.
October 2008: On the 25th & 26th we went to a UKC show in Davenport, IA. Levi won the breed 3 times and got a Group 1, 3 and 4. Mink won the breed once. Sherman won the breed once and received a Group 2. Cassie won Best Junior 3 times. Kaelyn won the breed twice with a Group 2 and a Group 3. Aja won the breed once with a Group 2 placement. Ferris won the breed once with a Group 3 placement. Ferris finished his UCD with a score of 193 and a 2nd place!!!
On the 18th & 19th, Levi competed in his first AKC agility trial in Lawrence, KS. He NQ'd on both his standard runs but he scored 100 on both his JWW runs giving him a first place both times.
On the 14th Rasha passed away from cancer. She was almost 14.5 years old. She was the best and we miss her. Her body was temporarily donated to MU for their study on Degenerative Myelopathy. Though she never showed the symptoms, she DNA tested "at risk". Even with her passing, Rasha was a benefit and a blessing to the breed.
On the 11th & 12th at the UKC Show in Warner, OK Mink finished her UKC CH title. She won Best of Breed 3 times as well as a Group 2, 3, & 4. Levi won Best of Breed 1 time and got a Group 4. Sherman was the only Beagle so he won the breed then he also got a Reserve Best in Show!!! and 2 Group 1's. Ferris won the Champion class twice. Aja won the Champion class and Best of Breed one time.
September 2008: The Cody X Pink puppies have arrived. There is one male and one female, both ridged. Both puppies have been spoken for.
Ferris finished his Rally Advanced title!
August 2008: Levi and Mink had their puppies on 8/2/08. See our Pyr Shep page for more information.
June 2008: Mink won Best of Breed 2 of 3 days at the UKC Premier show in Kalamazoo, MI. Levi won Best of Breed one day and was the Top Ten Best of Breed winner. Ferris also won the Top Ten Best of Breed as well as completing 2 legs of his UKC CD winning 4th place both times. Kaelyn got her first win toward her UKC Grand Championship.
On 6/28/08 Anusha finished her AKC Championship!!!
New titles: During the weekend of March 29th & 30th Sherman, Aja and Kaelyn all finished their UKC Championships!
2009 News . . .
The end of the year results for 2009: Cassie finished the year as the #2 AKC 15" Beagle Junior Showman in the US. She also finished the year as the #9 Junior Showman in the Hound Group in the US. She won 22 first placements and 10 Best Juniors in 2009. In UKC she finished the year #6 in the region and was the winner of the UKC Top Ten Junior Handler Competition at the 2009 Premier.
Mink finished the year as the #1 AKC female Pyr Shep, the #2 Pyr Shep in all-breed (Group Placements) points and the #3 Pyr Shep in breed points. She was the 1st female AKC Champion and the 1st owner-handled champion. Mink won 7 Group placements this year and was owner-handled the entire time. This is the most Group placements of all the owner-handled dogs. Mink was the #1 UKC Berger des Pyrenees for the second year in a row. She also became the first and only UKC Grand Champion Berger des Pyrenees.
Levi finished the year with many new titles including his Companion Dog (obedience); Rally Novice, Advanced and Excellent titles and his Novice Agility Jumpers. He now has 4 championships and 7 temperament/performance titles. He has become one of the few Versatility 2 Pyr Sheps. He finished as the #3 UKC Berger des Pyrenees.
Ruff finished the year as the #4 UKC Berger Des Pyrenees and Ethan was #5. Both only showed 1 weekend.
December 2009: The Pyr Sheps went to Long Beach, CA for the 3 days of shows prior to the big AKC/Eukanuba National Championships as well as the Eukanuba show. At the pre-shows, Mink won Best of Breed once and Best of Opposite once. Also at the pre-shows, Ethan went Best Puppy and won his class one day. At the AKC/Eukanuba National Championships, Mink won Best of Opposite and Ethan won the Puppy class. Levi only showed the one day and went Winner's Dog to finish his Championship!!! Vito also showed at the pre-shows and went Best of Breed one day as well as winning Best of Opposite at the AKC/Eukanuba Championships.
November 2009: On 11/13-11/15 we went to an AKC show in Council Bluffs, IA. Levi competed in Rally Excellent B all 3 days and won 2 1sts and a 2nd. He also finished his RE title!!! Mink showed 2 days and won Best of Breed both days as well as back to back Group 4's!!! Levi showed 1 day in conformation and went Winner's Dog. Chevy and Penny showed 2 days and both won Best of Breed on one day. Cassie won 2nd place in her juniors class the two days she showed.
On 11/7-8 we went to an AKC show in Springfield, MO. Mink won Best of Breed both days and a Group 4!!! She remains the #1 AKC female Pyr Shep and the #2 Pyr Shep in Group points. Cassie won her juniors class of 12 both days giving her her 21st and 22nd win. Penny won WB both days.
October 2009: On 10/24-25 we went to a UKC show in Davenport, IA. Sherman won Best of Breed at two of the shows and won his 4th Best in Show!!! Cassie won Best Junior at all 4 shows. Levi won Best of Breed 3 of the 4 shows and Baby Ethan won Best of Breed at one show. Levi is now tied with Ruff for the #2 Berger des Pyrenees and Baby Ethan is now #4.
On 10/9-10/11 we went to the AKC show in Lawrence, KS. Levi competed in obedience one day, in rally three days and conformation one day. He finished his Companion Dog (CD) obedience title with a respectable 193. He also completed all three legs of his Rally Advanced (RA) title with scores of 93, 99 and a 98. Those scores gave him 2 firsts and a 4th. He also won 1 pt in conformation by winning Winner's Dog. Mink won Best of Breed on the day we showed conformation and Baby Ethan won Reserve Winner's Dog. Cassie and Sherman won their Junior Showmanship class both days giving them their 19th & 20th class wins for the year. Penny (RR) won Best of Breed both days by beating the girls and the boys.
Levi is now qualified for his Versatility Pyr Shep 2 (VP2) There are only a handful of Pyr Sheps to have this title.
September 2009: On 9/11-13 we went to an AKC show in Salina, KS. Levi received his second leg toward his Companion Dog title. Kaelyn finished her AKC CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! Cassie showed 2 days and got Best Junior both days!!! Ferris received his first leg toward his Companion Dog Excellent title!
On 9/5 Cody passed away in his sleep. We are unsure as to the exact cause of his death. He is truly missed by everyone but especially his "mom" Lisa.
August 2009: On 8/22-23 Cassie and Sherman went to the Kansas City, MO AKC shows. She won Best Junior one day and received 4th on the other day!!! Calvin also showed at these shows and he won Winners Dog 2 days for another 2 pts!!!
On 8/21-23 Levi and Mink went to Chagrin Falls, OH for an AKC show. Mink was Best of Breed all 3 days and she won a Group 4!!! Levi was Winners Dog and Best of Winners 2 days giving him his 2nd and 3rd majors!!!
On 8/13-17 we went to the Topeka, KS AKC shows. Levi received his first leg toward his Companion Dog title! Mink was shown 2 days and was Best of Breed both days as well as a Group 4 on 8/17!!! Cassie showed 4 days and won a 2nd, 3rd and two Best Juniors!!! Calvin won Winners Dog 3 days for his first 3 points!!!
On 8/8 Cassie and Sherman went to Glencoe, MN for a UKC show. Cassie won Best Junior at both shows and Sherman won Best of Breed at one show!!!
On 8/1-2 Cassie went to the JAC weekend in Oklahoma City, OK. She won Best Junior on Saturday.
July 2009: On 7/16-19 we went to Houston, TX for the San Jacinto Beagle Specialty and the AKC shows. Cassie won Best Junior at the Beagle Specialty and won her class all 3 days at the regular Houston shows!!!
June 2009: On 6/11-14 we went to the UKC Premier in Kalamazoo, MI. Mink, Levi, Sherman and Cassie all qualified for the Top Ten. Mink won the Top Ten Best of Breed Berger des Pyrenees. She also won the breed each of the next three days. These wins made her the first UKC Grand Champion Berger des Pyrenees. She also remains #1 for 2009. Sherman also finished his Grand Champion title by winning the Champion class--he only needed one win to finish. Calvin won the Champion class once giving him his first win toward his Grand. Cassie was the big winner! She won the big Top Ten Junior Showmanship event!!! This was a very prestigious win and both Sherman and Cassie worked hard for it. Cassie also won Best Junior at one of the regular shows as well as second place on another day. She and Sherman brought home a lot of juniors' points!
May 2009: On 5/29 Vito won an Award of Merit at the Ridgeback National. A very nice win for a dog that just turned 3.
On 5/28 Pink was bred to Gain from CO. Hopefully Cindy will be having Ridgeback puppies in July. Update: Pink's breeding did not take.
On 5/26 we went to the Ridgeback specialty. Calvin won 2nd in sweeps and in his regular class. Ferris finished his Rally Excellant title!!!
On 5/21-5/25 we attended the AKC shows in New Castle, PA. Mink won Best of Breed once and Best of Opposite once. Levi won Reserve Winner's dog twice and Winner's dog once for his first major. Cassie went Best Junior 2 days, won her class one day and got third on another day. She was the only one to win multiple Best Juniors and the only one to win her class on multiple days. She was glad to bring home a lot of juniors' points.
On 5/15 we arrived in OH for the Pyr Shep specialty. We also picked up "Ethan" on that day. We were lucky enough to stay with our friend Kris during the 11 days we were in OH. At the specialty, Ethan won Best of Opposite in Baby Sweeps and in the regular Baby Puppy classes. Mink and Levi were both rated "Excellant" by Austrian breeder-judge Chistian Janes. Mink made the cut at the national. At the regional on 5/18, Mink went Best of Opposite to her brother Tugger. Cassie won Best Junior for the third straight year.
On 5/14 Ruff went to his new home in MO. We miss him but we hear that he's settling in nicely and is a cherished part of his new family.
On 5/12 Megan was euthanized. She had not been doing well over the last couple of weeks. Her body was temporarily donated to MU for their research of DM and other studies. She was a "normal" but she was still needed for their research. It turns out that she had multiple cancer sites. We miss her a lot. She was easy to live with and had a silly personality to the end. She was our first obedience titled RR. We miss her and hope that her contribution to MU will help other dogs.
April 2009: On 4/25-26 we went to 3 UKC shows in Norman, OK. Sherman was a SUPERSTAR!!! He won a Best in Show and 2 Reserve Best in Shows!!! Mink won the breed all 3 shows giving her 3 legs toward her Grand Championship. She also received a Group 1, 2 & 3. Calvin won the breed twice and got 2 Group 1's. Penny finished her UKC Championship and won the breed once and received a Group 1.
The current AKC stats (through 2/28) show Cassie as the #4 junior handler in the Hound Group and the #1 15" Beagle junior handler. She has only shown 4 weekends so far this year. Mink is currently the #2 Pyr Shep in breed and all-breed points and she is the #1 female. Also for AKC, Vito is in the top 5 for all breed and breed points.
The UKC stats (through 3/28) show Cassie as the #4 open senior in our region, Mink is the #1 Berger des Pyrenees, Ruff is the #2 Berger des Pyrenees and Sherman is the #9 Beagle.
On 4/3-5 we went to an AKC show near Wichita, KS. Levi finished his RN with a 2nd place out of 25. His RN combined with his CGC that he received earlier in the week gave him his versatility title VP1. Mink won Best of Breed all 3 days. Sherman won Best of Breed 2 days. Ferris got 2 legs on his RE title. Calvin got Reserve Winner's Dog to a major 1 day. Cassie was one of 8 finalist in the Central Region Finals in junior showmanship so she got a really cool embroidered jacket. Cassie also won her juniors class on Sunday which gave her all her wins needed to qualify for the Eukanuba National Championships in December.
March 2009: On 3/20-22 we went to 5 UKC shows in Racine, WI. Mink won Best of Breed 4 times, a Group 1, a Group 2, a Group 3 and a Group 4. Sherman was the only Beagle for 4 shows so he won Best of Breed 4 times, 3 Group 1's, a Group 2 and his second Reserve Best in Show!!! Cassie won Best Junior 3 times. Krystl finished her UKC Championship! Ruff won Best of Breed once and finished his UKC Championship! Travis was only shown once and won Best of Breed and finished his Championship! Penny won Best of Breed once and a Group 3. Calvin won Best of Breed 4 times with 2 Group 2's and two Group 3's. Calvin also finished his UKC Championship!
On 3/7 & 8 we went to an AKC show in Columbia, MO. On Saturday, Aja finished her championship! Also on Saturday, Mink won the breed and received a Group 4, Levi got his first Rally Novice leg, Cassie got 2nd in her juniors class and Sherman made a cut in the group. On Sunday, Levi got a second leg on his Rally title and won his class! Mink and Sherman got nothing in the groups but Cassie won her juniors class and Aja got Best of Opposite Sex her first time out as a special.
February 2009: Mink took Best of Breed over Levi all 3 days of the St. Joseph, MO shows 1/30-2/1. Cassie/Sherman won Best Junior 2 of the 3 days and she won her class on the third day. Sherman won best of breed one day. Aja also took the breed all 3 days!!!
We went to the Denver shows 2/13-2/16. Mink took the breed all 4 days and received a cut in the group on Friday and a Group 3 on Saturday!!! This makes her the #1 female Pyr Shep in breed and all-breed points! She is the #2 Pyr Shep overall in breed and all-breed points! Cassie/Sherman placed 2 out of 3 days in their juniors' class. Sherman also took the breed one day.
January 2009: The Pyr Sheps are now fully recognized by AKC. The adult Pyr Sheps went to the shows in Tallmadge, OH and Hamburg, NY. Mink finished her championship with 4 majors in 5 days of showing. She is the first female Pyr Shep champion, she is the first owner-handled champion and she is currently the #1 AKC female. Levi placed in all of his classes and took a couple of reserves as well.
2010 News . . .
We finished the year with Mink as the #1 UKC Berger Des Pyrenees for the third straight year. She was also the #2 AKC Pyr Shep in All-Breed points and the #3 Pyr Shep in Breed points. She was the #1 AKC female Pyr Shep and the #1 Pyr Shep that was totally owner-handled. Mink is also the only Pyr Shep that is a UKC and AKC Grand Champion. Mink is also the first Pyr Shep in the US to get a UKC Best in Multi-Breed Show!
Cassie, Mink, Levi, Ethan and Sherman all qualified for the UKC Top Ten Competition at the Premier in June 2011.
Cassie qualified for Westminster 2011.
December 2010: We went to Cleveland, OH for 4 days of shows on 12/16-12/19. Levi competed in Rally and gained 4 more RAE legs. In 8 classes, his scores ranged between 95 and 98. He finished his RAE and has 2 legs toward his RAE2. Cassie and Sherman placed 2nd in their juniors class on 12/17. The juniors classes were huge! Trooper went home to his mom, Trudi.
November 2010: Mink has been bred to Trooper. Her pups are due the middle of January.
We went to Norman, OK for a UKC show on 11/20 and 11/21. There were 3 shows. Cassie won 2 Best Juniors. Levi was moved up to Grand Champion class. Mink won Best of Breed and Group 1's for all 3 shows. She also won her first BEST IN MULTI-BREED SHOW!!!!! She's the only Pyr Shep/Berger Des Pyrenees to win any kind of All-Breed Best in Show in the US. Sherman won Best of Breed and Group 1's at all 3 shows.
On 11/13-11/14 we went to a UKC show in Ixonia, WI. Cassie won 2 Best Juniors. Mink won Best of Breed in 3 shows as well as a Group 1 and 2. Ethan won Best of Breed once and a Group 1. Sherman showed in Breed 2 shows and won Best of Breed twice and won 2 Group 1's. Trooper won 1 leg towards his Grand Championship.
October 2010: The UKC Gateway Nationals were in Gray Summit, MO on 10/29-10/30. Cassie won Best Junior 5 out of 6 shows. Mink won Best of Breed 6 out of 7 shows including the Herding Specialty. She also won a Group 3 and 4 plus a Group 2 at the Herding Specialty. Ethan won Best of Breed once and finished his UKC Grand Championship. Sherman won Best of Breed 3 times. Trooper won 3 legs toward his Grand Championship.
On 10/8-10/10 we went to a UKC show in Peoria, IL. Cassie won Best Junior all 6 shows. Levi finished his UKC Grand Championship and won Best of Breed once. Mink won 4 Best of Breeds, 2 Group 1's and a Group 2. Ethan won Best of Breed once. Sherman won Best of Breed in all 6 shows as well as a Best in Multi-Breed Show and a Reserve Best in Multi-breed Show!!!!
We went to an AKC show in Salina, KS on 10/1-10/3. Ethan won Winner's Dog all 3 days and finished his AKC Championship!!! Mink won Best of Breed all 3 days and won a Group 4!!! Cassie and Sherman won 1st and Best Junior on 10/1 giving them their 10th win needed to qualify for Westiminster 2011!!! They also won a 2nd in their class on 10/3.
September 2010: On 9/25 and 9/26 we went to a UKC show in Minniapolis, MN.
On 9/11 and 9/12 we went to an AKC show in Des Moines, IA. Levi competed in rally and won 2 more legs toward his RAE. He scored 98 in all 4 classes winning 1 1st, 2 2nds and a 3rd. Cassie and Sherman won a 3rd in juniors on 9/12.
August 2010: On 8/27-8/29 we went to an AKC show in Topeka, KS. Levi competed in rally. He won 3 legs towards his RAE with 3 qualifying scores each in both Advanced B and Excellant B. He won 3 1st places, 1 2nd and a 4th. 5 of his scores were in the 90's with 2 of those being 99s.
We went to Canfield, OH 8/5-8/8 for an AKC show. On 8/5 Ethan won Winner's Dog and Best of Winners for a 3 pt. major. Krystl also won a 3 pt. major and Mink won Best of Opposite Sex. On 8/6 Ethan won Winner's Dog and Best of Winners for his 3rd major. Krystl won another 3 pt. major and Mink won Best of Breed. Cassie and Sherman won 4th in juniors. On 8/7 Ethan won his 4th 3 pt. major by again winning Winner's Dog and Best of Winners. Krystl was reserve. Mink won Best of Breed and made the cut in a very strong herding group. On 8/8 Ethan was Winner's dog, Krystl won Winner's Bitch and Best of Winners for another 3 pt. major. Mink won Best of Opposite Sex. Krystl stayed in OH and now lives very happily with Kathryn.
July 2010: On the 24th and 25th we went to a UKC show in Tonganoxie, KS. Cassie showed Sherman in juniors and won Best Junior all 3 shows.
On 7/8-7/11 we went to the UKC Premier. Cassie won the Top 10 Junior Showmanship event for the second year in a row!!! She is the only junior to achieve two wins in a row--EVER. She also won a second in her class 1 other day. Sherman was shown in the Top 10 and the breed each day. He came home with an Award of Merit and a Grand Champion class win. Mink won the Top Ten Best of Breed for Berger des Pyrenees. She also won the breed all 3 days of the regular class. She should be the #1 UKC Berger des Pyrenees for 2010 at this point. Ethan won the Champion class twice and Levi won it once.
June 2010: No shows in June. We did add Devyn to our home. She is a Ridgeback pup from the Abe X Mali breeding.
May 2010: On 5/27-5/31 we went to AKC shows in New Castle, PA. We showed Pyr Sheps and Cassie showed Sherman in juniors. It was also our Pyr Shep National Specialty. Cassie won Best Junior 3 of the 5 days. Mink won the Breed one day and was pulled in Group. Mink was Best of Opposite at the National Specialty and 1 other day as well. Mink came home with 20 of the 25 points needed for her AKC Grand Championship. Ethan was reserve Winner's Dog 2 days and was Winner's Dog 1 day. Ethan also won "Best Expression" at the National Specialty.
On 5/22-23 we went to an AKC show in Gardner, KS. Not much to report. Cassie showed in juniors and Mink showed 1 day.
April 2010: On April 12th the Ridgeback puppies arrived. Kim Ellsmore bred her girl, Mali, to frozen semen from Abe. She ended up with 12! Will post pictures on our RR Pups page.
On April 9-11 we went to an AKC show near Wichita, KS. Mink won Best of Breed all 3 days and won a Group 3 one day!!! That's her 3rd Group 3 this year with only 5 weekends out plus Westminster. Levi earned 3 legs toward his RAE. All of his scores but one were in the 90's. He also earned his AKC Herding Instinct Certificate. Ethan was entered one day for his HIC and earned that leg toward his HIC.
March 2010: On March 26-28 we went to a UKC show in Racine, WI. Ethan and Krystl were entered in all 5 shows. Ethan won Best of Breed twice, a Group 2 and finished his UKC Championship!!! Levi was entered in 3 shows and won Best of Breed 3 times giving him 3 wins toward his Grand Championship. He also won 2 Group 2s. Cassie won Best Junior 3 times.
On March 18-21 we went to an AKC show in Independence, MO. Mink won Best of Breed all 4 days--she was the only entry. Cassie won 2 second places.
On the 13th & 14th we went to an AKC show in Columbia, MO. Mink won Best of Breed one day and a Group 3!!! Cassie moved up to the Open Senior class in junior showmanship. She placed 3rd one day.
February 2010: We went to the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club show in New York City on 2/15 & 16. Cassie showed Sherman in Junior Showmanship and won 4th place (3rd runner up) out of a field of 120 of the best juniors in the country. It's a great honor. Cassie also showed Levi's dad, Brio, to an Award of Merit. Vito, RR, also won an Award of Merit shown by his handler Linda Clark. Mink had a princess meltdown in the ring so she won nothing. We learned a lot and had a great time.
On 2/6 and 2/7 we went to an AKC show in St. Joseph, MO. We only showed Mink and Sherman. Linda showed Vito. Mink won the breed one day and also won a Group 3!!!! Cassie and Sherman won their juniors class both days and they also won Best Junior one day!!! Vito was also a big winner. He won a Group 1 and a Group 3!!!
January 2010: On 1/30 and 1/31 we went to St. Charles, MO for an AKC show. Mink went Best of Breed both days and made the cut in the group one day. Cassie won her juniors class both days and went Best Junior one day!!!
On 1/19 Hunter passed away. He was a puppy from our first Ridgeback litter. He was 13+ years old and will be missed.
We went to St. Paul, MN for an AKC show 1/9 and 1/10. It wasn't one of our best show weekends. Ethan went RWD both days and Cassie only placed 4th one day.
